Project 3, Group Task 2

Iron Curtain

Iron Curtain is a company which sells the revolutionary product which aids people in "ironing out the creases" of design. This new product uses space age technology to transform different designs to design forms that suit the time. This iron straightens out older designs creating a new, modern finish. Our intentions were to try to sell our product in a cliche mid-morning advertisement, aimed at an audience, ranging from housewives to retirees. Through the use of stop motion with an increased audio speed we feel we have taken a humorous approach to a stereotypical genre. Through the use of voice overs, we have attempted to create an atmosphere similar to that of a home shopping channel. We showed our product's intended use to "wow" audiences into buying our product. "Iron curtain" being repeated in conjunction with the phrase "wow" reinforces the product in the viewer's mind. The slogan "ironing out the creases" and positive messages within the advertisement are deliberately slower and clearer than the negative side effects. We chose to do this because typical advertisements like this often pass over the negative side effects of the product in a hurried manner so the viewer is less likely to notice. Exaggerating this highlights the ridiculous nature of these advertisement's attempts to gloss over negative associations with their product.

Iron Curtain

Group Task One

This poster represents Iron Curtain, the interior furnishing company. We specialise with the use of our revolutionary product- the iron iron, which will be sure to 'iron out the creases'. Our product raises the curtain to reveal straight line design.

Project 2: Brainstorm/Development

Project 2: Brainstorm/Development

Here are my brainstorm words on A4.

As I was doing them I noticed that I slowly moved towards a certain type of movement, described by a verb. Its interesting looking back and seeing how I slowly began to add more and more detail and animation to my brainstorms with each new idea until finally I start my storyboards.

I Like this ones characterization as one of my best, even though its simplistic, the effect on the viewer would be quite strong.

This one (above) I quite liked however the characterisation of the text was primarily comming form the sound idea. The Static word was also lacking in development.

Strike was quite clever, I like the proposed characterisation effect and particurarly the font.

This one was obviously my final project's initial concept. I like the font idea however I went for a more hand drawn style font as opposed to making my own due to time constraints and lac of previous knowledge. It is quite interesting looking back and seeing how much the initila movement and idea itself developed into a final piece of work.

I Really liked the idea of Zap however the static text was again a problem, even in the early stages so development ceased quite early. The sound in this one was again the most contributing factor to enhance characterization of the text as opposed to visual effects.

Drippy was one of my initial ideas, more focused on changing the text as opposed to characterizing it but it still had a lot of potential, this is one of the few that were being considered for the final project.

Slide was one of my favorites , quite effective ideas for characterisation however the initial conecept did focus on changing the text. Also the slide itself was hard to portray without being overly obvious so this one was left on the drawing board.

Drift was the most promising concept and had the most potential in my opinion. I like the movement and the cheeky-ness of the characters as the develop and eventually become animate in the final presentation. The font was particularly pleasing for me as I felt it really reflected the personality of the character i was creating and contributed well to the over all effect of the piece.
